Getting here by Car... Ferme de Tayac is easily reached by car, we are about 520km south of Paris.The motorway E9 will take you to about 50km from Les Eyzies, to Brive la Gaillarde, from there it is a wonderful drive through the Vezere valley. Take the N89 past Terrasson, then the D704 to Montignac,and from there the D706 to Les Eyzies, drive past the center and after about 500m (just before the train track) turn right and we will be waiting for you 500m up the road, next to the church.

From Perigeux, you take the N221, which changes into the D710, towards Les Eyzies/ Le Bugue. Then take the scenic D47 to Les Eyzies, after you cross the Vezere River you take the first left, and just head for the church.

As a general rule markets operate from about 08.30 to 12.30
on the days stated. If the day happens to be a public holiday
the markets tend to be reduced in size. Fruit and vegetables
are always good value and fresh.

Train Connections

Getting to "Ferme de Tayac"
from the Airport Charles de Gaule

From the airport you can get the RER metro, or bus and make your way to "Gare de Austerlitz" Interactive metro map
From "Gare de Austerlitz" you can get a ticket to Les Eyzies de Tayac, (about 52 Euro) with one easy change at either Limoges, or Perigueux. Les Eyzies de Tayac train station is about 5 min walk from "Ferme de Tayac"

Miscellaneous Information.

Internet
Internet and Internet cafes are very common
in France, you can usually pay per 15 min or
an hour. Remember that they use the AZERTY
keyboard and not QWERTY.

Telephoning
Most public call boxes now use telephone cards
which are sold in tobacconists, post offices,
SNCF or RATP ticket offices and other retail
outlets.
To call abroad the code is 00 + country
code + area code + number you are calling.
The code for the U.K. for instance would be
00.44. then the area code omitting the
first zero (0) The code for the U.S.A. is 00.1.

Changing money
France is part of the Euro zone. There are
8 euro coins denominated in 2 and 1 euros,
then 50, 20, 10, 5, 2 and 1 cents.
There are 7 euro notes enominated in
500, 200, 100, 50, 20, 10 and 5 euros.
Foreign currency can be changed in post
offices, stations or airports as well as banks.

ATM machines
Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard (any bank with
the CB sign)
American Express a few in the very large
cities and elsewhere via Le Credit Lyonnais
Bank Cirrus via Le Credit Mutuel and
Le Credit Agricole It is very easy to get
cash with Visa, MasterCard and Eurocard
possible with American Express, difficult
with Cirrus and Plus.


Travelers cheques
Easy to cash at any bank. There are often charges if the cheques are not in Euro's. Can also be changed at post offices.

Post offices
Post offices are generally open from 8 am to 7 pm on weekdays and from 8 am to midday on Saturdays. Some are closed from 12.30pm to 2pm for lunch. Traveller's cheques and money can also be changed here.
Stamps can also be purchased at tobacconists.

Credit cards
Accepted everywhere. Look for the sign CB in green-blue Visa, MasterCard, Eurocard (Carte Bleue network) AmEx, JCB (sometimes, and nearly always where there are tourists)

Foreign exchange
Best rates are usually given at banks or at the American Express offices. It is easier to change a foreign currency into Euros than Euros into something else since banks have a limited stock of foreign currency.

Health care
If you live in an EC country you should obtain an E111 form before you travel to France. This can be obtained from your local post office and must be date stamped by them. You will then only have to pay a part of the cost of your treatment.
Any visit to a doctor will cost 22 Euro.
